About

Welcome to Jess Designs Websites!

A bit about me (Jess):

After working in tech and marketing sales for almost a decade, I realized the most exciting part of my job was doing things that actually helped others grow. I felt that my job as an account executive just wasn't enough to move the needle, so I left in pursuit of more technical skills.

After getting a certification in Full Stack Web Development through MIT's xPro program, I was approached by some friends seeking help to improve their website, and that is how I began my journey designing websites and digital marketing strategies. Because of my experience working with brands that were burned by agencies in the past, I take a different approach to designing websites.

In my experience, there are 3 key elements to a digital marketing project that will actually move the needle and truly empower clients to own their websites so they can grow their businesses:

1) Start with Best Practices

What many people don't realize is that most web developers lack design and marketing strategy experience. If you don't understand the best practices for UX (user experience), SEO (search engine optimization), or digital content, even a beautiful website can struggle to perform.

When my friends approached me with their site, I saw firsthand how outdated formatting and structure were holding back their ability to grow. I was able to set my friends up with a fresh design, optimized for search, and a structure built for scale - it's much easier to build a brand when you have the right foundations in place!

Because of my previous work in SEO, marketing tech, and no-code web dev platforms, I have a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to digital marketing, content strategy, and web design. I am eager to share all my tips and tricks with you so you can take full ownership of your digital footprint and boost your brand's growth!

2) Create a Realistic Strategy

Another common mistake I see in website development projects is an unrealistic maintenance schedule - sometimes there's no growth strategy in place at all! I'm here to help meet you where you're at, whether you're a complete beginner or just in need of a brand refresh.

Not everyone has the bandwidth to take on the additional jobs of content marketer and digital marketer, so let's figure out the best way to meet your growth goals with the time and resources you have.

3) Fill Knowledge Gaps

The biggest complaint I hear about freelance web developers is "they just don't understand our business". I take the time to do research on your brand, I have a thorough questionnaire you'll need to fill out at least 2 days before meeting with me so I have time to fully review your answers, and you'll notice that I ask a lot of questions.

In my sales career, I partnered with companies in every industry from wellness to farming. I'm genuinely curious to learn about other peoples' passions - and in the case of website design and digital marketing, I've found that is essential to creating the right outcomes.

Learning has never been a one-size-fits-all task, and digital marketing is no exception. In addition to understanding your brand, audience, and growth goals, we'll take the time to assess any knowledge gaps that would prevent you from continuing to grow at the end of our contract. Then we'll develop a fully customized training plan to get you up to speed.

In conclusion:

So there you have it! The approach that makes Jess Designs Websites the best partner for folks seeking to have full ownership of their websites and a digital marketing growth plan that is actually achievable.
